God's Gift is a collaborative garden gate created between Pat Deere of PLDeere Studios and Eric Ehinger. Eric is a prolific welder and Pat is a lifelong glass artist. When the call came for art in the sculpture garden at the Tecumseh Center For The Arts, Pat and Eric immediately came up with a plan to utilize a 1/2" fused glass Trillium plate as the focus for the sculpture. 5 more fused glass plates were made for the bottom of the gate as Eric welded the gate itself.
Why God's Gift and why Trillium? Years ago when Pat moved to the country from the city her first Mother's Day in their woods was when she was pregnant with her first child. The gift of Trillium covering the woods floor like a white carpet was overwhelming and beautiful. She has always considered the Trillium in the woods on Mother's Day her gift from God. It seemed like a perfect match for the sculpture garden.
When purchased, if the gate is intended to be hinged versus displayed in the garden as it is now, that can be arranged. The sculpture is on display at the Tecumseh Center For the Arts at least until June of 2023 and can be removed after that date. To give the same feeling as the woods floor covered with Trillium, small garden stakes are available for purchase at any time and a % of those sales goes to the Tecumseh Center For The Arts.
